"Mary Book" Bag

     "Mary Book" bag... need to find an embellishment for the heart - otherwise, probably close to completion. Had intention to be ready for auction yesterday, but it wasn't meant to be. The book completed will be 6"x8" and 4" thick; with three highly embellished signatures and signature wraps. To date, the book covers are completed (photo transfer and painted background) and the signatures are painted (mainly acrylic and gesso). It has been exciting to find just the right aesthetically pleasing embellishments. Of course, as with these projects, I needed to learn "free motion sewing" and that class doesn't occur until the 4th of November. However, I have been doing a bit on my own.

Wool Mittens

     Back to daily life - tonight I attended the yearly Quilt Bingo event at OLPH Church; those gifted in sewing make 20 beautiful full-size quilts to be given away at each of the bingo wins. Thus, 20 games at $1 per card; a $20 evening of fun with friends. Hours of work for those who sewed.

     Don't recall which, but I won one of the games during the second half (possibly game #11) and tied with two other women. We then were to choose a number between 1-10. I chose #7. They respectively, #2 and #3. The number drawn was #6. Rules are that the number cannot be higher. So, I and #2 received the consolation prize below (everyone who gets 'bingo' wins) -- in my opinion a beautiful gift, too.

     Never tire of the drive to/from the "Kenai" to Anchorage. How truly blessed we are.

     My "Magic Feather Project" square has been received and I'm #383/4; imagine that I may have a chance of doing another one in November if the goal is 1000.  But, you never know. Portals (Photoartjournal)

     This was a must to finish today and get mailed off tomorrow to North Carolina because I have a major "book donation project" for live auction to complete by the 26th and am away this weekend! Oh, my... my heart is definitely wanting to complete the book, though... so all is good!

     Meanwhile, here is my contribution to the Photoartjournal Project (Yahoo Groups) with Catherine Anderson. Catherine wanted us to try one of the projects from her new book -- each of us will make 26 originals using our own unaltered photography and then we will receive 25 different ones and our own returned - you are welcome to click on her link in the sidebar and see the book which is beautifully written; and, it's like sitting down with her and having a conversation. Very fun read!

      "I Heart Macro" is such a beautiful site and I wanted to share it with you. A link is in my sidebar, also. Not sure how many times I will be able to participate, but will try on occasion. Magic Feather Project

     Spent a "spur-of-the-moment" Sunday evening at a lovely B&B (Point of View in downtown Seward) with my friend, Jaci. We enjoyed a relaxing evening before an appointment I had earlier today and the return drive home. Main Objective: to complete my Magic Feather Project at the SPIRIT CLOTH BLOG... you can check out the stats by clicking on the link in my sidebar. The gist: 1000 approximate 5x5 fabric pieces with hand embroideried feathers are sent to Jude Hill who is assembling or donating them to a children's charitable cause. What a generous undertaking. The idea has been traversing the internet for a few months and I saw it on Michele Unger's blog (Bell Street Journal, Sept 5 Posting).

     This is my first attempt at thread embroidery -- I intend to make one for a "remembrance book" using flannel cloth from an old wearable (LOL, couldn't give it up).
